With ‘Brow Studios’ in the ‘Urban Retreat’ in Harrods and Harvey Nichols, we meet Shavata, the lady who went from Beauty Therapist to all out business woman. If you pluck, wax or thread your eyebrows you’ll understand why groomed brows look better. They open up your eyes, make them look bigger and make your face appear, well, just that bit neater. Shavata, whose ‘Brow Bars’ are springing up all over Britain, goes one step further by saying that a professionally manicured eyebrow is the “equivalent to a mini face-lift”, which takes no longer

than fifteen minutes. “The eyes are the most important feature on your face,” she vindicates. It was with this mind-set, Shavata took her passion for brows, saw a gap in the market and launched her first ‘Shavata Brow Studio’ in the Harrods’ ‘Urban Retreat’ five years ago after owner, George Hammer offered her a concession.

Shavata more than proved herself, which is no mean feat as standards are notoriously high. Due to the phenomenal success, she then rolled out more concessions in Harvey Nichols Manchester, followed by House of Fraser in the City, Leeds, Boots in Kingston Upon Thames and at the end of the year it’s Heathrow Terminal One and finally (for now) Edinburgh Harvey Nichols, which is planned for the end of November. Shavata attributes her success and point of difference to, “selling an experience. Each new client receives a consultation. It doesn’t matter which technician you visit, the client will receive the best treatment available.” Shavata offers both waxing and threading, allowing the client to choose their preferred method.

Due to such swift expansion, Shavata has hired a trainer, Baljit who whips all new therapists into shape. As Shavata says, “when the girls start they are so scared of her. Baljit is so tough - but she gets results. I check their work on a regular basis and either I get them to do my eyebrows or I send them secret shoppers. Service and a great shape is paramount; that’s why we are the best.” Shavata announces proudly.

Shavata has also launched a line of branded products with her own range of tweezers and ‘Brow Tamer’ fast becoming a best seller. With a following of A-list clients, she says, “you don’t have to be famous to want nice eyebrows, we have a lot of everyday ladies too!”
